THE SR-71 WAS ARMED WITH A MEGAWATT LASER



Dr. Russell Targ, who worked for Lockheed Martin in the early 1960's, developed a Megawatt Carbon Dioxide Laser, pictured above, this laser was the armament for the SR-71. This laser at one meter square was considerably more compact than lasers with similar reported wattage.

The Soviet attempt at an SDI system, shot down mid launch by American space based lasers, was also reportedly a one megawatt laser.

    Actually, Polyus was a minelayer, ostensibly to sow EMP weapons in orbit ahead of time to prepare for a first strike by first EMP hitting the US and blinding our satellites.
